Gender ideology has claimed another target in college sports at Rutgers University, where a female rugby club officially erased the word “women” from its team name.
Moving forward, players will take the pitch under the rebranded moniker “Rutgers Womxn’s Rugby.”
Straight out of far-left academic circles, spellings like “womxn” were invented to scrub the word “man” from female terminology while signaling trans inclusion.
Unveiling the new title in a Sept. 24 social media post, team leaders released an official statement explaining the shift:
“Important Announcement: We’re excited to announce that Rutgers Women’s Rugby will be making the change to Rutgers Womxn’s Rugby!
“This change reflects our team’s commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment for our players. Inclusivity is an important part of who we are, and we want every member of our team to feel valued and represented through our organization. We are continuously evolving and want to properly reflect the standards of inclusion. We’re proud to continue building a rugby community where everyone belongs.”

While student-run club teams govern internal messaging, national and international sports federations establish competition eligibility rules based on biological sex.
Sex-segregated divisions were created to guarantee fair athletic competition by accounting for physical advantages resulting from male puberty, such as greater muscle mass, bone density and collision force.
World Rugby bans biological males from women’s divisions, pointing to clear science showing extreme injury risks during hard tackles.

U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon escalated this battle by enforcing federal Title IX protections based strictly on biological sex.
Doubling down this week, Secretary McMahon backed federal protections for female athletes, declaring that “women should feel safe in their spaces” and promising that “Title IX, which is the law, is enforced.” Federal investigators are actively cracking down on universities that allow biological males into female sports divisions or private locker rooms.
Across campus, the Rutgers Men’s Rugby Club has announced no plans to alter its name or masculine terminology.
Campus social experiments are officially crashing headfirst into federal civil rights law, setting up a showdown over the future of female athletics.
