The Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt, the territory’s main gateway to the outside world, is set to reopen next week after months of near-total closure during the Israeli assault, according to Ali Shaath, head of a Palestinian technocratic committee.
Speaking Thursday, Shaath said preparations are underway to resume operations at the crossing, a critical lifeline for humanitarian aid, medical evacuations and limited civilian travel.
Rafah has been largely shut since the war erupted, tightening an already severe blockade and deepening Gaza’s humanitarian crisis.
