Rutgers University professor and “Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook” author Mark Bray is releasing a new book recounting his decision to flee the United States with his family in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, while portraying modern America as consumed by a “fascist present.”
Bray’s forthcoming book, “Unpunctuated Death Threats: Notes from a Fascist Present,” is scheduled for release Jan. 19 and chronicles the professor’s departure for Spain after he allegedly received death threats and had his home address circulated online.
The publisher explicitly connects Bray’s decision to leave the political atmosphere following Kirk’s murder, saying that “in the wake of” the assassination, Bray took threats against him seriously and attempted to leave the country with his wife and two young children.

Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was assassinated Sept. 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University during his “American Comeback Tour.”
The publisher says federal agents stopped and questioned Bray at the airport before the family eventually made it to Spain, highlighting that the incident “left him a wreck.”
“Unpunctuated Death Threats is an intimate journey to the heart of how this Trumpian moment and the new fascism it has birthed — a world of far-right influencers, social media soldiers, and networked violence that chased the author into hiding — has shockingly made the United States a place to flee from,” the book description reads. “With fascism resurgent and genocide raging in Gaza, Bray turns anew to his Jewish identity in search of answers.”
Last October, members of Rutgers’ Turning Point USA chapter launched a petition, spearheaded by students, to remove Bray, citing concerns over his past statements.
LIBERAL FACULTY STILL HUGELY OUTNUMBER CONSERVATIVES IN HIGHER EDUCATION: REPORT

Bray, who moved abroad “for safety reasons” and said that he had been doxxed and “received multiple death threats,” has expressed strong support for “antifacism” in previous online posts.
His book, “Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook,” openly calls for “militant anti-fascism,” and says that “at the very least 50 percent of author proceeds will go to the International Anti-Fascist Defense Fund, which is administered by more than three hundred antifa from eighteen countries.” Antifa is a decentralized, far-left, anti-fascist movement that has attracted controversy for violent tactics from some of its cells.

Bray is also the author of other books defending anarchist and Antifa movements, including, “The Anarchist Inquisition: Assassins, Activists, and Martyrs in Spain and France,” and “Translating Anarchy: The Anarchism of Occupy Wall Street.”
In previous online posts, Bray has expressed strong support for “antifacism,” saying in an Oct. 4, 2025 post on Bluesky, a social media app popular with liberals, “It’s true that sometimes the law holds back Trump and affords us some semblance of safety. But the more we lean into the law as our shield, the more powerful it will become as a sword when Trump changes it in his favor and wields it against us. Only mass antifascism, legal or not, can save us.”
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Megan Doyle, a sophomore at Rutgers, said, “Mark Bray’s portrayal of himself as a victim in his new book is highly ironic. Considering his donations to the International Antifa legal defense fund, his advocacy for political violence… it’s hard to believe he’s a victim with his horrible actions.”
Doyle added, “It’s even more difficult to associate him as a victim when he fled the country to Spain, an Antifa hotspot, to promote his book, collect thousands of dollars in donations, and yet still remains employed by Rutgers University, funded by New Jersey taxpayers.”
