US-China decisions on security, tech, AI can bring ‘decades’ of peace, Trump says

US President Donald Trump said Thursday that decisions made during his state visit talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping on security, technology and “superintelligence,” referring to artificial intelligence, would shape global stability for years to come.

Speaking at a news conference with his Chinese counterpart, Trump said the two countries “have been working to encourage a more balanced trading relationship, including the new market access for American farmers and ranchers.”

“During this visit, we will also discuss pressing issues concerning security, technology, and superintelligence. The decisions we make in these areas today can promote peace and prosperity for decades and decades to come,” Trump said.

The remarks came ahead of closed-door talks between Trump and Xi at the White House, part of a three-day state visit that also includes military honors and a state dinner.
