Federal prosecutors say Love and his 18-year-old accomplice, Taylor Jamie Chan, used Tinder, Bumble, Hinge and Facebook Dating to target women across California, Oregon and Washington.

Love went full method actor to concoct his ruse. To convince women he was catching passes on Sundays, he staged entire fake workouts, including clips of himself running routes on public beaches while wearing a replica 49ers helmet.

The facade collapsed in August when the FBI arrested Love and Chan at an airport in Boise, Idaho. Love was indicted on federal conspiracy and wire fraud charges, with the FBI identifying dozens of victims across multiple states.
In one video, Love staged a mock contract signing, flashing team gear and telling the camera, “Niners, you already know, Niner gang.”
When questioned about his status on the active roster, Love’s go-to excuse was pointing to an allegedly injured finger.

In one Instagram video, he flashed an AI-generated Google search snippet that erroneously listed him as a Niners receiver, telling his followers, “That’s Google. That’s not me, that’s Google.”
Once he convinced them he was an NFL star and real estate player, he pressured them to take out high-interest personal loans to fund his fake, high-yield investment programs.

None of the money was ever invested.
Love burned through the cash on luxury cars, designer jewelry, and flashy vacations to keep up the appearance of wealth for his next target.
Once a victim ran out of cash or started asking basic financial questions, Love cut off all contact. He pleaded not guilty and remains held without bail ahead of a federal jury trial set for Dec. 15.
