At least two people were taken to a hospital, including at least one child, after a shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, police said. The suspect was shot and killed.
The total number of victims was not immediately clear, Bend Police communications manager Sheila Miller said at a news conference Thursday. She said at least two people were taken to St. Charles Medical Center and that “the victims include children.” The status of the victims was not immediately known.
Police received a call about a shot fired into a car just before 1 p.m. local time, Miller said. Police arrived within three minutes and quickly received word the shooter was dead. Miller said it was not clear who shot and killed the suspect, saying it “may have been a bystander.”
No further information on the suspect was provided.
